Gen 22 : 1-14 Emphasis on (14)

How many of you want to do the will of GOD, at any cost? How many of you feel that ,obedience to GOD'S will is paramount? How deeply embedded in your hearts, is your faith in GOD? And lastly how many of you know that GOD is a provider?

Say these words out loud , obedience,faith,and provision.

Whenever I introduce ideas and concepts from the old testiment. It appears that there needs to be a little history given in support of the information. So bear with me for a minute, while I bring some of you up to date. In the book of Genesis. We find a few things happening.

GOD is in the process of creation, GOD is the source and provider of all things. GOD , created man and woman. Adam and Eve thru disobedience fell from GOD'S grace. By the eating of the forbidden fruit. A chain of events began to take place. Adam and Eve felt that they should hide and cover themselves, because of some deep seated shame and such. Some say fig leaves was used. Whatever! But GOD being the relationship oriented GOD, KILLED an animal to provide Adam and Eve with some more suitable and appropiate covering. Here is where this was found in the bible , (GEN 3:21) THIS IS A KEY POINT, I NEED FOR YOU TO GET THIS!!! GOD himself made the first sacrificial offering ( out of love) and was directed to mankind. Simultaneously setting a precedence or rule for atonement.There had to be some blood shed from that point on , this becomes apparent in the of ( Lev. 6)

Now how does any of that fit into the text today? Here we have Abraham, a man whose heart is set on pleasing GOD, an offspring of the fallen, Adam and Eve. I am told with the promise of GOD to be the father of a great many nations, And a great example of obedience.

Reread Gen 22 :1-3

Beloved I saw an example of obedience, in the text, here. According to the text ,we find Abraham and his son (his only son) going to a place, which will later be disclosed.When they arrive there, at this undisclosed place they are to build an altar and then a fire, to make a burnt offering to GOD. An offering, which was not apparently in their possession at the time. Or at least it seemed like that to this child.Not to mention that Abraham is pretty well on in age by now!

No matter what the cost is, being obedient is giving honor!!!

Maybe there is some area in your life, where GOD is calling for your obedience

I saw an example of faith demonstrated in the text also. The bible says that faith is the substance of things hoped for ,and the evidence of things not seen. (Hew 11:1) A trust if you will for lack of a better explanation. I have come to believe that faith is, then a lively and stesdfast trust in the favor of GOD, wherewith we commit ourselves altogether unto GOD. A trust that is so surely grounded and sticks so fast in our hearts, that we would not doubt it even unto death!

A little bit of this is pleasing to GOD, maybe you heard faith the size of mustard seed.

Abraham exhibited this kind of faith in verses 7-8. When his only son asked I see the wood ,I see the fire, but: " where is the LAMB? Look at the text and see the response giving. Abraham totally trusted that GOD would provide a lamb for this offering. He believed so strong that was going to pull this off. That he was able to convince his son.(faith, even childlike faith)

Maybe there is some area in you life ,where you could wait on GOD, with childlike faith!

The child Issac, mentioned the word lamb, I need to share with you, right here this word lAMB is very important, it refers to the non-gendered baby of the sheep family. And the adult male would be a RAM, while the adult female is a EWE. I know I 'm right about this , because while in the United States Marine Corps. I was introduced to this info by my drill instructor.

I made the mistake of calling my drill instructor you, and they are always refered to in the third person. He got so upset with me and for several minutes he punished me, making me understand that a ewe was a female sheep. I thanked GOD for providing me with that quick lesson.

GOD is truly a provider. I saw provision in the text in verses 9-14. It showed that after Abraham was obedient even up until the point of killing his only son. GOD stepped in. What a timely GOD we serve. GOD directed an angel to deal with Abraham and provided a ram in the thicket, thereby saving Abrahams only son.

People refer to sheep as been educationally challenged (dumb) and I have heard people referred to as sheep. Sheep will follow each other right off a cliff if you don't watch them, and we'll follow the jones right into hell with a hand basket of stuff.

GOD knew that. So He provided us with a sheperd, who had hair like lambs wool, who would be born in a manger. He 'd be Mary's baby boy, The good sheperd, who would eventually be the sacrificial lamb.

this event was to be the blood shed, the ultimate sacrifice. Our ram inthe bushes, not Abraham'sonly son, But GOD'S only begotten son, we call him JESUS!!!
